Mining Niches: A “Proven Business Plan” You Can Use For Any Market

You can use this plan as a model for any niche market. The basic principle is same, make necessary adjustments to suit your need.

In one of my previous article, I’ve talked about How In Order To create Content or any information product that matters you need a ‘Problem’. A nagging, persisting, problem that a group of people are desperately looking forward to solve. In that article I’ve also shown you where you can get a list of such problems which you can to pick up, research and create content to help people facing these problems.

Today I’ll expand on that and discuss a business plan you can use to build a business, providing solutions to such problems.

First the problem…

The rapidly changing landscape of the Internet has created many different problem areas. Here are some disturbing statistics.

According to United States Department of Justice (DOJ) 1 in 7 child Internet users have received unwanted sexual solicitations and only 1 in 4 have told their parents. 1 in 17 children reported being threatened or harassed while using the Internet. Only 18% of even the worst online harassment such as threats of bodily harm or aggressive sexual solicitation is ever reported to authorities.

According to the Pew Internet report, “… big majorities of both teens and parents believe that teens do things on the internet that their parents would not approve of. ”
And this potential problem for the parents of teens, gives you an opportunity to create and sell products targeting this niche .

Using this, as an example here’s how you can start :

Step #1: Create series of Special Reports that addresses the parents’ main issue, problem, pain, predicament.

In this case worries about different type of threats their child faces when visiting sites without their knowledge and how they can find a solution for these problems.

Step #2: Start a newsletter.

Start a free service something like: “Parents Alert”. Mention that you will send them latest new about new threats, useful tips, guides and resources.

Step #3: Create a landing page with a call to action to get one of the special report and your newsletter.

Step #4 : Start writing articles and pitch them to online press release service. Submit them in article directories.

Also post selected articles in your website. These articles will serve as your advertisement, to show your target audience that you know what you are talking about. Best way to do this is to add a blog to your website.

Step #5 : Use your newsletter to keep in touch with your audience. Give them useful information. Ask questions to know more about other topics they search for on the Net.
This will give you good idea about information products you should promote ( both your own products as well as affiliate products.)

Step #6: Network and form alliance with professionals in related field to supplement your income and provide even more value to your target audience.

For example – some of your subscribers/customers may be parents of child suffering from autism or suspecting autism. You can refer them to other consultants in your networking group who specializes in “helping parents of children, suffering from autism”

Step #7: By this time, if you have gained enough knowledge in your field, you can boost your income many folds by starting your own consultancy service, in addition to the info products.

For example - In the above case - consultancy service for parents finding it challene to manage their teens.

This is a “proven formula” that works for almost any market.

Don’t get distracted by the “pitches” for the latest gizmos and gadgets….get the basics right. Print out and Use this seven step formula to create or modify your own business plan.
