Internet Business Ideas for those who love to Search the Web and find Interesting Sites

Do you spend a lot of time everyday surfing the web for sites that interests you?

Then there is money hiding there, just waiting for you to cash in on it. You can do this even if you don’t have time to write ebooks or create other information products.

Where is this gold mine hiding?

It’s in your bookmarks, in your favorites file! No matter how obscure or unusual your interests are, there are others out there who share the same passions that you have. If you can provide them the information quickly and easily, they will pay you for saving their time. Not much, maybe just $7, but find 500 of these people and you have created a small fortune.

Skeptical?

If you are a good observer, you will find people doing this and selling their bookmarks in eBay. Last time I checked I found one seller selling his list of links for websites on specific model of vintage motorcycle and related articles found on the web. It has been even done offline by people like Bob Bly. Here’s what he said about this method…

“Are you interested in a specific field of knowledge or study? And are you the type who clips articles and collects tidbits of information on your topic? If so, you can convert this passion for information by compiling your collected knowledge into book form.

For a while, I became fascinated with all the toll-free consumer help lines and hotlines I saw advertised, giving free information on everything from AIDS prevention to gardening tips to stock market quotes. I became an obsessive collector of these numbers, clipping articles and writing down 800 numbers I heard on radio and saw on TV. Finally, I compiled them into a book, Information Hotline U.S.A., published by New American Library.

Similarly, a friend of mine, Don Hauptman, is obsessed by language in general and word-play in particular. Don is a collector of information, and began collecting acronyms (such as DNA, LSD, scuba, laser). When his collection got large enough, he turned it into a book on acronyms, Acronymania, published by Dell.”

Here are some ideas to get you started…

#1 Are you a mother of preschooler looking for information to keep your child engaged?

Look in your favorite folders. It’s likely you already have a collection of different activities to keep a child engaged. Or may be you have a child who is a picky eater and you have big collection of websites and forum posts sharing recipes for cooking with children. You may not be aware of it, but you have information that many other moms out there will be glad to have their hands on.

#2 Did you search the web for a medical condition you or a family member has experienced?

Look in your favorite folders. Probably you have bookmarked hundred of sites, forums or discussion list talking about the different symptoms, causes and remedies for the disease. There are people out there who are in similar situation and would love to get same info quickly, organized in one place, instead of spending hours searching or trying to figure out where and how they can get relevant information for what they are seeking.

#3 Do you surf the web looking for information to start your or enhance your career in photography, designing, consulting etc?

There are thousands other doing the same and you have a potential money maker hiding there in your favorite folder waiting to be cultivated.

#4 Have you been searching the web, collecting information to teach math, science, etc. for your homeschooling child?

Probably you have unconsciously collected a great resource on the topic. If yes, you can easily find hundreds of homeschooling parents who would like to have the info from another homeschooling parent like you.

#5 Are you planning for a family trip to Disney? Or may be planning to visit India next year…

Whatever the destination is, I’m sure you have already collected or still bookmarking information like best attractions and places of interest, traveling tips, what you can eat there, historical background etc. Organize your bookmarks into sub categories and sell them to others looking for similar information.

The above is just a short list to show you the possibilities… But you got the idea. Isn’t it?

Of course, all of the bookmarks you sell can be developed and converted into
higher priced info products.

But that is a topic for another post another day :-)

Oh my! Have you been looking over my shoulder? My son laughs at me when I write down notes when watching tv or cut pieces out of our local newspaper.

I’m amazed at what is going in our local area & you wouldn’t know where to look…or the helpful sites or talented people that are written about in our local paper & gone once the paper is recycled.

I have recently included a True Locals section on my LifeStyle Discoveries blog to help our locals.
