The true power of this process lies in one – simple strategy i.e. spending time to create a solid ‘structure’ or ‘blueprint’ for your info product on which you will build.
Imagine trying to build a house without a blueprint! Without a proper plan chalked out in paper your chance to build a hose of your dream is same as ….
Same goes with your info product creation. The more clarity you have about what exactly you should include or share in your product, the more easier and faster will be the writing process.
And the best way to do it is first creating a ‘blueprint’ and follow specific steps to get it out of the gate.
Step 1: Create the Blueprint
This is the most important step in the whole product creation process. The better you do here, better your output would be. So don’t skimp this. Give time and create a Table of Content (TOC) first. You should go down at least up to 3 labels: Chapters, Heading and sub headings.
Step 2: Create a Master Template
To do this copy paste your TOC Headings subheadings into Word Processor and generate an automatic TOC with the help of “Index and Tables†menu in Microsoft Word. You will find this under “Insert†menu. Once done, save your template.
Step 3: Drill down To detail Level
Now scroll through the template and add “content points†under each heading/sub heading. Content points become your “cueâ€. It could be any “quotationâ€, “referenceâ€,†idea†…. anything that you wish to include under each sub headings when you start the actual writing process.
Step 4: Write Your Book/Report/Audio Script.
Start writing by filling in the blanks under each heading/subheading following your “cuesâ€. Begin at page 1 and work through the last page.
Step 5: Edit and Revise Your Work
Do a light edit as you proceed through the writing process. Only after your draft is complete, do line by line on screens edit.
I use this strategy practically for any product I create. It gives me a very clear focus about what I want to include in my product and of course saves time when I actually start the “fill-in-the†blank writing process.
